Pastor Elaine Hewes

Pastor Elaine became our spiritual leader in 1997. Her voice, whether preaching from the pulpit or singing with the choir, inspires us as we strive to become truly “a house of mercy, a place of grace”.

She and her husband Michael live in Blue Hill, Maine. They have three adult children: Emily, Sarah and William.

Pastor Elaine Hewes attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and Bangor Theological Seminary, receiving her Divinity degree from the latter. She serves on the Board of the Maine Council of Churches, mentors students at Bangor Theological Seminary, and has been teaching Preaching there in 2009.

Pastor Renée LiaBraaten

Pastor Renée was called to co-pastor with Pastor Elaine in 2009.

She lives on the coast of Maine with her husband Jerry, who is the pastor of Nativity Lutheran Church in Rockport, Maine. They have three adult children: Liv, Linzee, and Lane.

From Concordia College Pastor Renée LiaBraaten received a Bachelor’s degree in music performance with a minor in pipe organ and a minor in piano and choral conducting; and from Wartburg Theological Seminary she received her Master of Divinity degree.

Since 1999, Pastor Renée has been part of the Kairos and Associates team. Previously she served as a Dean in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Synod, and served various churches in rôles including pastoral staff and Director of Youth and Music Ministries.
